Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Victor Marie Hugo (Besançon, 26 February 1802 - Paris, 22 May 1885) was a French writer, poet, essayist and statesman and is considered one of the most important and influential French romantic authors of the 19th century. He wrote novels, poems, plays, essays and political speeches and also left an extensive correspondence.
Victor Hugo was strongly influenced by François René de Chateaubriand. Hugo published his first book of poetry in 1822, and in 1831 Hugo's first major novel, Notre-Dame de Paris (The Bell-ringer of Notre Dame), was published. The work was so successful that it was soon translated into several European languages. It was partly intended to encourage the city of Paris to restore the neglected Notre Dame cathedral. The book also gave rise to a renewed interest in pre-Renaissance buildings, which would acti...
For almost 33 years now, Paul Meijering has been active with the paint brushes. As a 17- year old inspired youngster he joined the Academy of Arts in Enschede (Holland) in order to receive a native training in drawing- and painting technique. At that time (1980) the tendency of the abstract was running riot, and to his dismay and disappointment Paul found that the trade of the ancient masters was merely 'old hat', the realistic art being disregarded and looked down upon. After two years of useless botchery, there was only one conclusion to draw: "get autodidact, be a self-taught person!" Paul then left the academy to work for a living, but at the back of his mind there always loomed the passion of his life: to paint. At his spare time...
