Description
Sports footwear testing. Researcher looking at a thermogram (on screen) of a pair of trainers being worn by a runner (seen on the treadmill). A wind machine is replicating the conditions during running. The colours on screen show variations in temperature; from red (warmest) through yellow and green to blue (coldest). These are ClimaCool trainers from Adidas, first sold in 2002. The ClimaCool system provides ventilation through all surfaces of the trainer, helping to keep the athlete cool. The ventilation is seen on the side of the trainer (centre) where heat (red) is escaping. Photographed at the Adidas research centre in Scheinfeld, Germany.
